Gary, Barry and I started our journey to DDD5 at Dundee railway station, while Julie joined us at Cupar. The journey itself was enjoyable and entertaining with our group enjoying each other company, while Virgin Trains managed to keep their trains on time.
On arriving in Reading we wandered off in search of the IBIS hotel, we must have appeared lost as we were approached by a helpful local, who pointed us in the right direction.
After checking into our hotel and freshening up we ventured off in search of food, finally settling for the Xen Restaurant with its selection of Indian, Japanese and Thai food. The food itself was excellent and the wine superb, although this was no doubt due to the fact that the maitre de had supplied us with rioja at £45 a bottle instead of £18! Thankfully he admitted it was his mistake and while Gary returned to the hotel to allegedly prepare for his presentations, Barry, Julie and I went for a few drinks. We stumbled across the Belgrave Arms and stayed until closing time, as it turned out to be a fairly decent pub!
